A Magical Sunset Family Photoshoot with the Honeyman Family

Family Sunset Session

Join the Honeyman family for a heartwarming sunset photoshoot in Samford, where laughter, love, and a playful new puppy create unforgettable memories amidst a stunning rustic backdrop.

There's something truly special about capturing family moments against the backdrop of a glowing sunset in the picturesque Samford countryside. This particular session with the Honeyman family was a heartfelt one, as they gathered to create lasting memories with grandparents visiting all the way from the Netherlands. Adding to the charm was their new puppy, Nala, who joined in on the fun, filling the space left by their beloved dog, Gus, who had gone to doggy heaven.

The afternoon was perfect, with the warm glow of the sunset illuminating the farm and rustic bushland, creating a magical setting for their photos. My photography style is all about warmth and authenticity, so it was important to me that everyone felt happy and comfortable—even the grandparents, who were initially a bit camera-shy.

I always start by getting the kids warmed up and comfortable, as their happiness sets the tone for the entire session. The familiarity of their home environment, combined with the playful energy of young boys and a new puppy, quickly set a relaxed vibe.

The Honeyman family includes four energetic boys, with two sets of twins, who fondly remembered their last photoshoot with me. They insisted on starting at the gate, swinging from it just like before, which immediately brought out their joyful spirits.

We moved on to capturing the kids with Nala, as I like to focus on the children’s photos first before they lose interest—and before the light fades!

Throughout the session, I aimed to capture a mix of shots: mum with the kids, dad with the kids, grandparents with the kids, and of course, the boys on their own, along with fun candid moments in between. These four confident boys even took the reins by the end, directing some of the shots they wanted to include.

Though the session was quick, as the light changes rapidly, it was filled with laughter and genuine enjoyment. Even grandma and grandpa ended up having a great time! In just 30 minutes, we captured a folder full of images ranging from posed to unposed, relaxed in-between moments, and heartfelt interactions. It was a delightful experience that beautifully encapsulated the spirit of the Honeyman family.
