Wattle and Wildflower Photography
Hi I'm Trish!
I've been hooked on photography since the late '90s, back when film was the cool kid on the block. My love for snapping pics kicked off in the thrilling world of sports photography, but I soon found myself cooing over the sweet moments of newborns as I launched my professional journey. Now, I specialise in capturing the delightful chaos of family and brand photography from the stunning countryside of Samford in North Brisbane.
My style? It's all about fun, authenticity, warmth, and those earthy vibes—mixing laughter with heartfelt moments. I take pride in making everyone feel at ease, using humor and a laid-back approach to reveal and capture the true essence of each person.
I'm lucky enough to live in the beautiful country area of Samford in north west Brisbane, surrounded by farms, trees, animals, rolling hills and stunning sunsets. I'm a mum of 2 cheeky boys and 2 equally cheeky golden retrievers and wife to the most amazing human going round.
THE PHOTO THAT STARTED IT ALL
My journey into photography began in an unexpected place—working in IT support for a national newspaper during the Sydney 2000 Olympics. As I assisted news photographers with their tech issues, I was captivated by their ability to freeze a split millisecond in time, telling powerful stories through their lenses. Witnessing the blood, sweat, and tears behind great sporting moments, the speed of water flowing over Ian Thorpe's head, the passion of athletes in a State of Origin decider, and the thrill of a world champion achieving their dreams during the Sydney Olympics ignited my passion for photography. It was there that I fell in love with capturing authentic, real, and personal emotions that tell a story and last a lifetime.
Right :The photo that started it all. This photo was captured by renowned sports photographer Gregg Porteous during a pivotal moment at Stadium Australia in the 1999 State of Origin series. As we scrambled to upload this iconic image to the newsdesk, a sudden broadband outage threatened to delay the next day's edition. In a race against time, we resorted to dial-up (yep it was that long ago), and against all odds, the photo graced the front page of the Daily Telegraph the following morning.
This unforgettable experience, marked by urgency and triumph, ignited my enduring love for the fast paced industry of technology and the and power of emotion in photography.
HOW IT BEGAN
Fast forward through my technology career, I used photography to capture my travels around the world, friends who inspired me, and memories of life well-lived through laughter, tears, and highs and lows. In 2013, I took time off to have my first baby and joined a mothers' group of other scared and lonely mums. I began taking photos of them and their new babies on my deck as practice, which led to photographing their families and subsequent children, giving birth to my family photography venture.
THE EVERYTHING PHOTOGRAPHER
While working in a major airline's technology department, I was asked to capture events, employee branding photos, and images for publications and marketing, offering me invaluable exposure to the commercial photography world. I loved blending my tech expertise with my creative passions. When my second child arrived, I needed more flexibility than corporate life could offer, so in 2018, I took the leap to pursue my professional photography business full-time. I embraced every opportunity, from family portraits to personal brands, corporate events, birthdays, weddings, and even kindergarten photos! My corporate background and contacts naturally drew me towards commercial photography.
BRINGING IT TOGETHER
However, COVID-19 had other plans. During the pandemic, I took the opportunity to explore how I could merge my tech career with photography. I embarked on a master's degree in digital marketing and communications, aiming to apply my tech and project management skills to my creative pursuits. Digital Creative was born in 2021 upon completing my degree, focusing on websites, SEO, branding (including brand photography), and digital strategy for brands big and small.

TWO IS BETTER THAN ONE
In 2023, I launched Wattle and Wildflower as a separate brand to reflect its nature-inspired, family-oriented roots with an earthy feel that mirrors my style. Now, in 2024, I proudly run two complementary businesses—one on my digital/tech and marketing side and the other on my creative side.
And what's next? To grow these businesses to be impactful and make people's lives easier, sharing my wealth of digital AND creative knowledge while and making people smile along the way (pun intended).
In 2025, I am launching a digital studio, providing me with a space to work on digital projects at one end and photography at the other.
