Inspired by the Australian Landscape

Capturing the Heart of Australia: My Photography Journey Inspired by the Landscape

As a photographer, I find endless inspiration in the breathtaking beauty of the Australian landscape. Living in the picturesque rural setting of Samford Valley, I’m fortunate to be surrounded by the kind of natural splendor that fuels my creativity every day. But as a country bumpkin at heart, my roots and my inspiration lie deep in the countryside.

The old barns, majestic horses, and long grasses gently swaying in the afternoon breeze, all highlighted by the golden hues of a sunset, create a scene that is both timeless and enchanting. Fences, sheds, and rolling hills with mountain backdrops paint a canvas of rustic charm. There’s something truly magical about the farms, animals, and creeks that dot this landscape, and I love living amongst the kookaburras and witnessing the stunning Samford sunsets that never cease to amaze me.

My passion for these natural wonders is deeply intertwined with cherished memories of my mum, who used to draw kookaburras and paint native Australian plants. Her love for the way kookaburras sing and the way native flowers flourish in her garden is a legacy I carry with me. Growing up, I spent countless hours at my grandad’s farm, exploring the rustic shearing shed, old silos, and catching tadpoles in the creek. The old verandahs of the house and rusted-out farm equipment in the paddock were my playground, and these colors and textures continue to inspire my photography.

I am drawn to warmth and earthy colors, with a touch of deep reds, browns, greens, and pinks. Native bouquets of flowers like waratahs and grevilleas, the rustic branches on trees, and the vibrant colors of tree trunks in the afternoon sun after a rain shower all captivate my lens. The light green leaves of the gum trees, the browns of the gum nuts, the greys of the koalas, and the contrast of wallabies amongst the grass are elements I cherish and strive to capture in my work.

Each photograph I take is a tribute to the land I love and the memories I hold dear. Through my lens, I hope to share the warmth and beauty of this incredible landscape with you, inviting you to see the world through my eyes. Thank you for joining me on this journey, where every image tells a story of the land, its colors, and its soul.

Warm regards,

Trish
